Cover Reveal - Mia's Heart - Courtney Cole

My name is Mia Giannis.
I am seventeen years old.
I live in Valese, Caberra.

This has become my mantra and my lifeline, having recently lost my memory due to a scary natural disaster.

Yeah.  I have amnesia.  Messed up, right?

You don’t know the half of it.

Not remembering anything has turned my world upside down. My parents try their hardest to “remind” me of who I was, but it doesn’t feel right. Or, if what they’re saying is true and that really was me, I’m not sure I like that person very much.

And then there’s my love life.  Apparently, Gavin Ariastasis is my oldest and best friend in the world. Also, apparently, we’ve never dated.  But now, noticing him for what feels like the first time, he’s making my heart do somersaults.  He knows me inside and out—the real me.  Plus, he’s sexy and charming as hell.  Sounds perfect, right?

But then… there’s the new guy. Quinn McKeyen – tall, gorgeous and deliciously American.  His mischievous grin and slow Midwestern drawl turn my insides to mush in two seconds flat making me question who I really am and what I really want.

Seriously. What am I supposed to do with all that?!  I feel torn between them, but I barely even know who I am, let alone what I want.

I just hope my indecisive heart will clue me in.  And sooner rather than later…before I lose what little of my mind that I have left.

Demons Forever in One Week!! - Sarra Cannon

Hi everyone!! I’m sorry I haven’t been around much, but I’ve been working so incredibly hard on Demons Forever. I want every little detail to be perfect. Plus, I’m not one of these writers who has the book completed and ready a month or two ahead of time and sends it out to editors, etc. I am a last-minute kind of gal, LOL.

The truth is, I work very well under pressure. It can be incredibly stressful, but it’s also very fun. :) With each release in this series, I’ve ended up rewriting entire sections of the book in the last week before it came out. Does this make me insane? Quite possibly, yes.
And here we are!! One week from the release of Demons Forever! I am excited and so very nervous to find out what everyone thinks of the ending. I have truly poured my heart and my passion into this novel, so I am praying fans of the series love it!

As I’ve mentioned before, October 29th is also my 2 year Indie-versary!!!! That means it will be exactly two years since I took a leap of faith and self-published Beautiful Demons. I was nervous, wondering if it was a smart move for me or if I should look for an agent and try to publish traditionally instead. I am so happy I decided to become an Indie author. It’s one of the best decisions I ever made, and I am excited to celebrate 2 years and over 104,000 sales.

How do I plan to celebrate both of these major events?? With some fun FAN APPRECIATION giveaways!!!!! After all, where would I be without you guys? <3 I have been working very hard to put together a fun fan appreciation swag pack. I will have all of the amazing details on how to get one for yourself starting soon (after I finish all the final work on Demons Forever), but for now, I’ll tease you a little with pics of what is in the prize packs. I hope you like it!

Check out Sarra's blog for this awesome Giveaway!!!

Exciting News! Announcing Grimmdale High - Coming December 2012! - Karly Kirkpatrick

I'm so excited to tell you about my super secret project. I've been tossing this idea around since early 2012 and have finally made some time to make them a reality!

I've always been a fan of fairy tales, as well as all things funny.
Grimmdale High is a marriage of both of those things. I'm approaching this series differently than my novels.

Grimmdale High
will start off with two short episodes, short stories of about 10,000 words (40-50 pages, give or take). I'm hoping to release Snow White vs. Rose Red, which will be the first episode in the series, as well as Fairest of Them All, the second in the series, in December, before Christmas.

Ideally, I'll put out another episode in January, then February, and the final one in March. After the final episode, I'll bundle the series together into a complete volume.  If the idea is popular and readers really like it, then I'll look into doing a second round of them. I'm sort of thinking of these in terms of half-hour sitcoms. If I had to explain the genre to you, it would be a mash up of the TV shows Once Upon a Time and Suburgatory.

On the two covers, you get to meet the star of the Grimmdale High series, Bianca von Schweinhausen, or Snow White as her mother calls her. The blond is Rosie von Schweinhausen, Bianca's older sister. To say they dislike each other is an understatement.

I'll have full blurbs for them in November, so keep an eye out!

I've also got another idea of shorts in the works on the schedule for the spring, after this and
New Blood, my next novel, are completed.

JUST FOR NOW excerpt - Abbi Glines

JUST FOR NOW excerpt
Warning: It is very hot and is not suitable for young readers.

“Manda, please baby, tell me to stop,” he begged in a deep husky voice while he trailed kisses from my mouth to my neck, where he began licking and nip

ping the tender skin there.
“I don’t want to,” I gasped out as his finger entered me easily.
“So sweet. So wet. I shouldn’t be able to touch you. I’m not good enough.” His tortured voice only turned me on more. I opened my legs and he sank down between them as his fingers eased in and out of me.
“You’re so warm,” he murmured as he kissed down my chest and finally let go of my hands so that he could use his free hand to slid up the inside of my shirt. He chose that moment to start rubbing his thumb over my clit. I cried out and clung to both his arms. I was so close.
“No,” he bit out and then he was gone.
My breathing was labored and my body parts started screaming in protest. I wanted him back. Touching me.
“No! I can’t do this. I shouldn’t have started it.” Preston was standing up when I opened my eyes. His face looked fierce and he wasn’t looking at me. Instead, he was focused on the dark sky.
“This is wrong,” he said again in a determined voice.

Face-Lift for Of Blood and Bone - Courtney Cole

So, one of the best things about being published as an indie is that we are able to be flexible.  If something isn’t working, we can change it.

One of the things we’ve been hearing a lot of in reading groups and whatnot, is that the cover of Of Blood and Bone didn’t fit the book.  Because of the title, people were mistakenly thinking that is is a horror novel, which it is not.  The cover didn’t do anything to argue with that notion and so readers who might otherwise try it out, passed it over instead.
So, Of Blood and Bone has had a facelift to better convey what kind of book it actually is:  A dark romance.

I absolutely LOVE this cover, hot hot hot!!! You can check out more about Of Blood and Bone over at Courtney's Blog!!

While Cinderella is one of the most widely known tales, here are a few facts about it that are not…
1.  From Russia to India and Vietnam to Scotland, nations from all over the world have their own traditional telling of the Cinderella story.  A few examples of titles are The Story of Tam and Cam (Vietnam), Baba Yaga (Russia), The Saddleslut (Greece),  Pepelyouga (Serbia), Ashey Pelt (Ireland), and Conkiajgharuna (Georgia).

Fair Feathered Excerpt: 2 - Paulina Ulrich

As I walked back through the woods, it took me a little longer than I expected to reach the lake, but when I did, I walked to the edge and stopped. I stared at the water that barely washed over my toes and it was cold and beckoning. My body trembled with fear, but I had to do this. My feet took a few steps forward until they were ankle deep. I stopped again, catching my breath in my throat at the iciness. Keep going. My thoughts commanded my body to will itself forward. The saddest part of it all was that I knew what the consequences of this would be…and I was willing to accept. I hoped that this time, it wasn’t a dream. I wanted to escape the dread I had been suffering from for weeks now. It would all be over soon.
Wading deeper, I continued walking into the lake farther and farther until my head went under the surface. Silence. There was only the silence. I savored the momentary peace that I felt had been taken from me. This would be the last thing I heard but not the last thing I saw. Behind my eyelids was a brilliant image, an image of the boy I loved desperately but would never see again. I was selfish but I couldn’t bear the thought of one more day, going through the same painful routine that I had been forced into. If I left him a letter, it would have been burned. I knew it wasn’t long before someone found me. It was time.
Exhaling all the oxygen from my lungs, I watched the bubbles fly up to the surface that was now far above me. The ache in my lungs was unmistakable but I closed my eyes, ignoring the pain. Conjuring up the best memories I had in my last minutes, I replayed them over and over until I could feel my conscious slipping away. I finally felt free, like a bird that could fly. I wouldn’t be flightless anymore.

Just for Now Sneak Peak - Abbi Glines

I started to respond when Dewayne’s eyes widened and he let out a low whistle. I followed his gaze and almost swallowed my damn tongue.
Amanda was here. Wearing a short white clingy dress. Her long tanned legs looked even longer with the bronze high-heeled sandals she was wearing.  Her silky blond hair was pulled up on her head but several curls had fallen loose and brushed her bare neck and shoulders. Ah, hell.
“Is she with Jason Stone? Fuck, I hope not.  Marcus is gonna be pissed.” Dewayne’s words slapped me in the face. I tore my eyes off her and looked to see whose arm it was she was holding onto. Jax Stone’s brother was smiling down at her saying something. He was making her laugh. She was gazing up at him like he was fascinating. Fuck. A red haze settled over my vision and I started to move. A hand clamped down on my arm and jerked me back.
“What the hell are you doing?” Dewayne’s hard tone surprised me.  What was I doing?
            “I, he, she… I don’t know.”
I didn’t look back at Dewayne. I couldn’t explain that asinine answer. Instead, I turned to the bar tender. “Make that a double and keep ‘em coming.”

October News - Berinn Rae

I've been hiding out for some time with my deadlines for the next two books in the Colliding Worlds trilogy (which, by the way, Implosion and Explosion are coming along great!). September was also the month of fly-ins and air shows (I fly when I'm not writing, really!), with every weekend booked. Now that the leaves are turning color, I'm looking forward to some free weekends to write like a mad woman!  Oh, with the exception of one weekend at the end of October, where I've been invited to join the Wonder of Words literary festival in Des Moines, Iowa (squee!!). Annnd one more thing... Elle J Rossi just designed the poster for the panel I'm on at next year's RT conference (which is going to be a blast!). Click on the thumbnail to see how awesome she did! Have a colorful fall!

Fair Feathered Excerpt - Paulina Ulrich

I was sleeping loosely in Gregory’s arms and thought I was dreaming until I heard a noise in my room. I stirred but I heard it again. Forcing my heavy eyelids open, I searched for the source of the sound. My phone was vibrating wildly on my nightstand and I reached over to grab it. Who could be calling me? The screen was too brightly lit for me to read who had dialed me so I just answered.
“Hello?” My voice was thick with sleep. I most likely sounded like a zombie.
“Don’t think that this is over.” Suddenly I was wide awake like someone had splashed a bucket of ice cold water on me. Her voice was too recognizable and could only belong to one person: Amelia. “Wherever you are hiding, I will find you and I will ruin you for what you have done.” I was still too stunned to speak. Even from a phone call she could instill fear in my heart. I knew this wasn’t a dream. Not even in my nightmares was her voice this chilling. “So listen here bitch, I will do whatever it takes to get my father back. It’s your fault he is where he is. I can’t even begin to tell you how much you will suffer for this. If only you knew…”
I swallowed down the lump in my throat and tried to keep my voice from shaking. “Please leave us alone.” My voice was just barely above a whisper. What did she have planned? How could I protect everybody if she threatened them?
She laughed coldly. “Leave you alone? What pathetic world are you living in? You stole the love of my life! You got my father arrested! You forced my mother and I to go on the run! You think that you can just sit back and destroy my life while you get to have Gregory and live your life? You are gravely mistaken.”
With shaking fingers I ended the call and threw my phone on the floor, terrified. My breathing was erratic and my heart thumped along at a quickened pace. I didn’t feel safe anywhere anymore. Jumping out of bed, I flicked a lamp on and went over to the dresser, taking handfuls of my clothes and dumping them onto the floor. I ran to the closet and found my duffel bag to stuff my things into. Tears welled in my eyes as I blindly shoved pieces of cotton clothes into my bag; the faster I packed the quicker I could get away. Why was this my life now? Why did I live in constant fear? I jumped when my phone started vibrating violently again. I ignored it like it didn’t exist but it echoed in my head until I heard it stop. She was probably capable of reaching through the phone and strangling me to death.
I felt arms encircle me and I screamed, not thinking of who it could be. “Livy, calm down.” Gregory’s voice whispered worriedly into my ear and I buried my face in his shirt, crying. “What’s wrong? Why are you so upset?” The two of us sat in a pile of my clothes as he pulled my face back to see my eyes.
I pointed to my phone that sat across the room on the floor. My shaking wouldn’t stop. “Amelia called. She’s threatened to find me no matter what.” I was completely distraught until a thought occurred to me…was she calling to say she has one of my loved ones? Scrambling from Gregory’s arms, I crawled over to my phone and quickly dialed my dad’s number. I didn’t care if it was the middle of the night. Fear was the only thing I could feel.
